Collected from the Tsengwen estuary (Ref. 36073) and from mangrove creeks in southwestern Taiwan (Pu-Tai, Pei-Men, and Syh-Tsao) (Ref. 48455). Also known from the Penghu Islands (Ref. 55073). Since the Taiwanese government monitors and regulates the dissemination of the tilapias, there are no reported adverse effects of their introduction at present (Ref. 6300). First successful larviculture in Taiwan occurred in 1946 (Ref. 40297). Also Ref. 2, 3, 5193, 36683. |
